St. John of Nepomuk, patron saint of the Czech Republic, was thrown off Charles Bridge In 1393 by the Bohemian king Wenceslaus because he wouldn’t reveal the confessions of the queen. This marks the spot from where he was thrown off. Legend has it that stars appeared around St. John’s head the moment he hit the water.
